Watch out Silicon Valley
The belief that you have to live in Boston or Silicon Valley to realize your entrepreneurial dreams no longer holds true.
The Southeast provides a lower cost of living, temperate climate, a strong talent pool, and easy access to the world’s busiest airport. On top of that, metro Atlanta in particular has the 10th largest GDP in the country.
Living examples of leadership and innovation in this area were on full display June 8th at the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 Southeast Award Gala. The affair celebrated the accomplishments of business men and women with companies headquartered in Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Alabama. Past winners include Mailchimp’s Ben Chestnut and Pardot’s David Cummings.
Nominees were divided into 9 categories from Family Business to Health Care to Technology. Winners ranged from on-demand grocery delivery to cyber security platforms and even included pest and lawn maintenance company TruGreen, proving that entrepreneurship is not limited by industry. Check out the profiles of each of the 9 victors here.
With Atlanta Tech Village, Tech Square, Switchyards and more, there is support and resources for entrepreneurs and startups all around Atlanta, and even more around the Southeast. As this community continues to grow, the companies cultivated in our rich region will only continue to be elevated.
